PROGRAMME OUTCOME:

At the end of the programme, the graduates will be able to get a complete exposure to English Literature, to value literature and humanity, to explore literary works leading to research thinking, to get transformed into active readers and thereby focus on their higher studies and employability. This programme will enable the students to have enhanced knowledge of functional texts of British and American literature, to have deeper understanding of the cultural and historical range of English literature, to develop a flair for the English language and to excel in Journalism and Mass communication.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES:

Students can apply critical and theoretical approaches to the reading and analysis of literary and cultural texts in multiple genres. Reading in a variety of forms, styles, structures, and modes articulate the value of close reading in the study of literature. Students can paraphrase information from outside sources effectively and accurately. It helps to understand how society and culture played a significant role in the lives and career of the writers of the age. It provides ability to think critically and creatively. Broad knowledge of literary classics helps to gain a unique perspective and understanding of the world by reading, evaluating and discussing literature which influenced society. Students can identify, analyze, interpret and describe the critical ideas, values, and themes that appear in literary and cultural texts. It also supports them to understand how these ideas, values, and themes inform and impact culture and society now and in the past. Students can attain and enhance competence in the four modes of literacy: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing which provides opportunities to choose their career as teachers in schools and colleges.
